Oops! should have posted this one before the last blog! Sorry!
Hi ... to my 3 followers !
A few Fridays ago, we celebrated our daughters birthday and decided to meet at Tate Modern. We went to see the photography exhibition called " Shape of Light". It is a 100 years of Photography and Abstract Art . Quote from Tate Modern Site "Shape of Light is the first major exhibition to explore the relationship between the two, spanning the century from the 1910s to the present day. It brings to life the innovation and originality of photographers over this period, and shows how they responded and contributed to the development of abstraction. For the first time, Tate Modern tells the intertwined stories of photography and abstract art. "
The swings may not be inside the Tate any more but ... they are still VERY popular !
We decided to meet in the new building's Members Room. It is a very funky cafe.
We had some coffee/tea and then went down to the Exhibition. I was not sure what to expect but as soon as l entered my heart skipped a beat. I have always been interested in lines, whether in my Photography, which l did my degree in ( quite by accident! :) or Painting and Drawing.
Can you see the similarity between the above photograph image and the painting?
I suppose this Exhibition made me start to see my own Art in a serious way. I don't mean l don't take my own Art seriously but it sort of gave me permission to be serious and proud of my own Art. A lot of what l created in College, was dismissed by my tutors. It knocked me back and until recently l had not bounced back. I will show you some of the work now! :)
The wonderful Jackson Pollock's work.
Polaroid Images ... love these!
LOVE these images !
Small can be beautiful too !
Then the last Gallery ... boy what a treat. Just stunning!
Oh ... hello me!
Looking down to the ground floor and the "slope" entrance.
Then back outside again ... and look what l found! A group of bones picked up from down on the sand! Of course l had to choose some and take them home. my family wee not impressed! :)
Love London at night !
What a wonderful day we had. Happy Birthday gorgeous daughter xx

After having been to Tate Modern's Photography Show, l find myself looking for "lines" every where. I have always been interested in lines and circles but after the Exhibition things began to all click into place, in my mind!! So take a walk with me this morning to see how l have started to look at my surrounding differently. !
This first image made me realise, that although this mark was made by workman ... if l painted it on canvas it would be classed as "Art". Well in my world it would be anyway! :)
Which artist painted this image then? :) It is funny how one line drawn on the road can look like "Art" in my eyes now!
Nature makes it's own beauty and is often an amazing Artist it's self ! BUT ...add in humans contribute and sometimes ... interesting things happen!
I think glass is an amazing substance. As you can see from the next few images, l have tried to look at "normal" images of glass differently. I had a lot of fun looking at glass from different angles, from above, through and close up. Once l had started looking at glass , l found it amazing how glass could look so different!
I found it fascinating how this piece of glass suddenly became a maginifying glass. Yes l know l should know this but watching it happen suddenly made it seem like magic!
I have always found "broken" glass fascinating ...way ... l have no idea! Ha!
Metal from different angles.
A piece of bread thrown away, lying on the pavement. Yes but still interesting!
There is a lot of rubbish these days and yes ... it is very annoying but if you can get past that problem ... it is very interesting when you can look at it differently! This next image is a crushed plastic cup, run over by a car.
Another discarded piece of plastic ... but very artistic!
Not sure what this was before but here, it reminds me of a painting l saw a few years ago. Wish l could remember who the artist was! It was a huge acrylic painting and was meant to be something to do with magic and angels!
This is a piece of tissue that has been squashed into the path . I wonder how long it has been here? It has now become part of the pathway and l expect very few people notice it.
This is a piece of shiny sweet paper , that has also been squashed into the stone path. When it catches the light it sparkles. I heard one little girl saying " Oh look Nanna, sparkling stones, is it magic" ? :)
Cigarettes have somehow figured quite a lot in this walk! Why can't people put them in a bin but then l wouldn't have these images would l! :) I did not stage it.
Can you see the curved lines, these discarded cigarettes have created?
Love this image. It feels it looks like a painting already!
Then as l was finishing my walk, l saw this amazing sight. I love bees. I never realised till lately how many different sorts of bees and wasps there are !
Hope you enjoyed this walk and in the future try looking at "things" differently. Life can be SO exciting if you decide to look at the world diffently! Night all.xx
